FAQ
-
You can check our submission status on our Submittable. Typically, we open submissions in early October, and close submissions in mid-late December. Please note that FOLIO does not accept submissions sent outside of this window, nor do we accept anything not sent through Submittable.
-
We understand how nerve-wracking it can be waiting for a response. We aim to respond in two months or less, but please remember that our staff is composed of full-time students, and this is just one of their many responsibilities.
If it’s been more than three months, feel free to inquire about your submission’s status through the Submittable portal.
-
Unfortunately no. While run and maintained by AU students, FOLIO is a literary journal for the artistic community at large, rather than our local community. If you are a current student interested in showcasing your work, please check out our sister publication, Café MFA.

To keep up with the modern literary community, FOLIO has made the decision to transition to an online-only publication. By doing so, we hope to focus on reaching the widest audience possible with the wonderful pieces we have the privilege of publishing.

FOLIO Literary Journal is entirely free for readers, supported by the generosity of American University and Submittable fees.
Submitting to FOLIO incurs a small Submittable fee of $2. As we no longer produce a physical edition, this small charge keeps FOLIO running and helps us focus on producing the best journal we can.
